Privacy
The plain-English version first.
We collect as little as possible, we never sell your information, and if you email us we use your details to reply — that's about it. The formal version follows.
Who we are
Karn Media ("we", "us") is based in Washington, Tyne & Wear, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@karnmedia.co.uk.
What we collect
If you fill in our contact form, we receive your name, business name, email address, phone number if you add it, and your message. If you email us directly, we receive whatever's in your email. Our website sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. Our hosting provider records standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the service running and secure.
Analytics
We use Umami — a privacy-friendly analytics tool we host ourselves, on our own server. It tells us how many people visit, which pages are popular, and roughly where visitors come from. It sets no cookies, doesn't follow you around other websites, and doesn't collect anything that identifies you personally. Because nothing personal is stored and no cookies are used, there's no tracking pop-up to click through, and none of this data is shared with anyone else.
How we use it
To reply to you, to provide services you've asked for, and to keep basic business records we're required to keep. When you send the contact form you get an automatic acknowledgement email straight away, and then a personal reply — that's all it's used for. We do not sell your information, and we don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask.
Legal bases
Under UK GDPR: legitimate interest (replying to your enquiry and running our business), contract (delivering services you've engaged us for), and legal obligation (accounting records).
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails: as long as the conversation is live, plus a reasonable period after. Client records: for the duration of the engagement plus the periods UK law requires (typically six years for financial records).
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email hello@karnmedia.co.uk and we'll sort it. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If we add tools that change what we collect, we'll update this page before they go live.
